Is the Brazilian children’s book recognized abroad?
We have internationally awarded illustrators such as Roger Mello, winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Previously, Brazil won this award with the author Ana Maria Machado. This recognition opens doors for us to be able to sell copyrights abroad. The writer Ilan Bremen is young, lives on the books and his works are already in 15 countries. We have Nereide Schilaro Santa Rosa, who lives from talking about art and history to children, also recognized worldwide. This gives a lot of pride to our literature, not to mention the growing spaces in bookstores and commercial return. All major bookstores have children’s space and organize events on weekends. Bookstores are investing in the consumers of the future. I bet the market will continue to grow.
